Lonsdale Capital Partners, the London-based private equity firm run by Dubliners Alan Dargan and Ross Finegan, is eyeing further investments in Ireland having backed electronic component manufacturer Elite Electronic Systems in Co Fermanagh.

Lonsdale is in talks regarding another investment, Finegan confirmed. “We’re in discussions and are keen to make more investments, aiming to back investee firms’ growth plans, organically, acquisitively or both, especially in fast-growing SMEs, but not in tech, biotech or pharma,” he said.

“We potentially will double our investment in Elite, if we can find the right acquisitions. It can grow its offering both to existing and new customers,” he added.

Growth in Britain specifically, both organically and through strategic niche acquisitions is a key part of the strategy, he said. Finegan declined to say how much Lonsdale has invested. Elite has a turnover of £22m (€24.7m) and employs 215 people. It serves a mostly Irish customer base, providing manufacturing services and making printed circuit boards and wiring and cable harnesses to a range of high-growth sectors including power monitoring and telecoms
